Flutter for business apps: when one codebase is the right call
Building separate Android and iOS apps doubles cost and maintenance. Here is when Flutter makes sense, and when it does not.
By SATechWork Team
Most businesses that need a mobile app need it on both Android and iOS. Building two native apps means two codebases, two sets of bugs and two release cycles. Flutter offers another path.
What Flutter gives you
- One codebase for Android and iOS, and optionally web.
- Consistent UI that looks the same on every device.
- Near-native performance: Flutter compiles to native code.
- Faster iteration with hot reload during development.
Where it fits best
Ordering and delivery apps, booking apps, learning platforms, membership apps and internal staff tools are all great fits. These apps are mostly forms, lists, maps, payments and notifications, which Flutter handles very well.
When to consider native
If your product depends on heavy, platform-specific features such as advanced AR, deep OS integrations or specialised background processing, native development may still be the better call.
Our approach
We build the backend and admin panel first, then the Flutter app on top of real data. Test builds go to your phone every sprint, and we handle Play Store and App Store publishing under your own accounts.
